I did not know Margaret well, but her sister Jo married my uncle decades ago. Jo lost a battle with cancer too long ago but we were part of the Hummert family by then. Margaret hosted my daughter Hannah during her study abroad in England and we've stayed connected ever since then. Margaret and I were mostly Facebook friends playing Words With Friends nearly every day until the end. She usually beat me and we took the opportunity to share family updates between games. It was a lovely relationship that I cherished and will always remember fondly.

Margaret was our Home Start volunteer and boy, did we get lucky the day she was assigned to our family! Margaret was a whirlwind of positivity, practical help, kindness and a wicked sense of humour. She went on to become one of my closest friends. Iris and I will miss Margaret so much, but will treasure our memories and be forever grateful to have had her in our lives.
